FAQs About Golden Seeds Open Houses

A Golden Seeds Open House is a free, one-hour virtual event for prospective investors who want to learn about Golden Seeds and angel investing membership. Golden Seeds members host each session, sharing their personal experience with the organization and answering questions from attendees. Open Houses are held throughout the year and are open to anyone interested in learning about membership — accredited or not. They are not pitch events and are not intended for entrepreneurs seeking funding.

Angel investing works by providing early-stage companies with capital in exchange for equity. Investors take an ownership stake in a company at an early valuation, with the expectation that the company will grow in value over time and eventually provide a return through an acquisition or IPO. At Golden Seeds, angel investing is structured through a membership model: members access vetted deal flow, participate in collaborative due diligence, and make individual investment decisions. Members may also invest through member-managed funds.

Yes, Golden Seeds Open Houses are free for all attendees. There is no registration fee and no commitment required. Attending an Open House is simply an opportunity to meet current members and learn about Golden Seeds membership. If you decide to pursue membership afterward, the next step is to attend an Investor Forum, where women-led startups pitch to Golden Seeds members, before applying.

No, you do not need to be an accredited investor to attend an Open House. Golden Seeds Open Houses are open to anyone who is curious about membership. However, to become a member of Golden Seeds and participate in investments, you must be an accredited investor as defined by the SEC. Open Houses are designed for people who are exploring whether angel investing is right for them and whether Golden Seeds is the right network. Accredited investor status is required only at the point of membership application.
